Total Cost of Emails.

Note: There is a link to a Total Cost Estimator at the end.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a misconception that AWS SES gives everyone 62,000 free emails every month. While this is true, it applies only if you are sending emails from your application hosted in Amazon EC2. We hope AWS changes this in future. https://aws.amazon.com/ses/pricing/‚Äč

The total cost you pay for sending emails is a function of the following items.

  • Data Transfer / Bandwidth Cost: When subscribers open your emails, the content (text, images, etc) are fetched from AWS Servers and S3 locations. This uses internet bandwidth. This is charged $0.090 / GB

  • PUT Requests: When you upload images to S3. This is charged at $0.005 / 1000 requests.

  • GET Requests: When you fetch images from S3. This is charged at $0.0004 / 1000 requests.
